Response of animals to deer and squirrel
Deer and squirrel were both introduced to Haida Gwaii. Deer have direct effects on the understory vegetation (Response of vegetation to deer) Squirrel prey upon song bird eggs and nestlings
We analysed how: the effects of deer on the vegetation affected songbirds and invertebrates squirrels affected the success of song bird nests.   We addressed three questions : How does the abundance and diversity of understory and litter invertebrates vary with browsing history?
